Everyone has been asking for pics of my set up....

We just bought this new house in September so the room is still kind of in transition. I'll be posting updates as I organize it all. This is an extra bedroom/office in the center of the ground floor so it's the most stable room in the house as far as temperature .There is very minimal infuence from the weather outside since there are no windows. It's about 9ft X 7ft with an open closet that's 4ft X 6ft.

1st up was to install an adjustable wall rack. You can buy each individual peice at Home Depot. The main support is the top rail that all of the vertical hangers hang from. Every other mounting hole has a 3" deck screw into the studs, the alternating holes between have 3/8" drywall anchors. Each of the vertical hangers also use either 3" screws or anchors depending on where they fall along the wall. I use 3/4" premium pine cut 14" deep and about 7ft long, there's a groove for the heat cable running 4" from the back for belly heat. With this set up I can alternate between Sterilite 3.5qt fresh hatchling tubs, 6qt hatchling/subs, and even 15qt sub adult and young adult tubs. The best thing about this wall is that it changes with my season depending on what size and how many hatchlings I have.

This cabinet I built out of an old TV cabinet I had for years. Just gutted the old shelving that was in it, cut new mdf shelves and ran a groove in the back for heat cable, also added a 1/4 plywood back on it and made a new 4" base for it all to sit on. This currently houses my breeder females in Rubbermaid 16qt blue tubs.

These three smaller racks are currently being used as a desk for the comp and incubator. There are two racks that hold 4 16qt Rubbermaid tubs that house my breeder males. The taller one holds 7 of the 6qt Sterilite tubs for hatchlings/subadults and also 2 15qt Sterilites on the bottom. My incubator is a converted wine cooler.

    And the far wall...

I just removed the condensor that cools it and wired it with heat tape and a thermostat. only cost me about 40 bucks all said and done.

I got all of mine at walmart and had to buy them a few at a time since they don't carry too many of the smaller 3.5 qt ones. They actually have the same floor space as a typical 6qt tub, they're just only about 3.5 inches tall which seems to provide the fresh hatchlings more security, and saves me space!

I'm a neat freak anyways but I'm also a father of 4 daughters between ages of 9 and 7 months so time is sometimes scarse...

to clarify.... 9 yrs, 7 yrs, 6 yrs, and a 7 month old.

After reading that post again it sounded like 4 daughters between 9 months and 7 months which I think would be nearly impossible...lol

Yeah I've never been a messy person. There are some of us that keep stuff clean. When it comes to my gecko's I really put alot of work into making sure everyone is clean and healthy.

    Thanks everyone...

The adjustability is what I love about the wall rack, but the downside is you have to use the lids on each tub which can be a pain... It'll be full during the peak of hatchling season. Eventually I'm going to build racks for my snakes to line the wall below. Probably 4-5 tubs high 25Qt the full length of the wall, then to the right of the wall rack I'm either building a cabinet style corner cabinet to display some of my nicer breeder leo's or a floor to ceiling snake rack... the far wall will eventually have the same wall rack too.

I find time, it's an escape from the estrogen that fills my home.. ;) and yes all the girls love them too, each one has their own "pet gecko" in their own room upstairs. I've actually modified their desks to have two pull out 28qt tubs, I'll post some pics of those eventually.
