Yet Another "What Morph" Thread

Hey everyone,

I just joined this site and it looks like I found the right place for help. Before becoming a leo owner, I frequented the BP.net forums, a ball python being my very first herp. Since then, I've expanded to beardies, crested geckos, and now the oh-so-cute leopard geckos. :D Problem is, I haven't the slightest clue about leopard gecko morphs! :main_rolleyes:

So, here's the fabled question: what do you think my little Paradox could be?

Thank you! <3

Wow, thanks! I just looked up that combination and some of them come pretty darn close. The orange near the base of his tail isn't as vibrant, nor is the tangerine coloration for the rest of him (more like a tan color sometimes), but these ones look almost exactly like him.

He even has the dorsal stripe and thick horizontal bands like those two do.

I don't know why, but I find great satisfaction and comfort in knowing exactly what my pets are. Regardless, I love them to pieces. :smitten:

Also, a random, somewhat unrelated question: is that a pretty decent find for a pet store?

Not saying the gecko is worth a millions dollars or anything... no offense, but its a nice little SHTCTB with some jungle genes.

Ok so your average SHT is banded like this: http://www.leopardgeckowiki.com/images/a/a0/Shtct1.jpg

Or possibly abberant (bands on tail or body and stripe/jungle on the nonbanded part (tail or body) like this: http://geckosetc.com/images/avail/Available Pictures/HTF15_55_600.jpg

but the one above you can see on the tail, the pattern is irregular and on the body (it is hard to see) it is also irregular. Making it a jungle.
I would still call it a SHTCTB but if you crossed it with a jungle you would definitely get a lot of jungles and stripes rather than banded geckos.

Ohhhhh i always thought that the irregular brown banding was normal, but i see where your going with the tail stripe, i didnt notcie that before. Does that mean that its carrying 2 codominate alleles?

Jungle is a polygenic/recessive: http://www.leopardgeckowiki.com/index.php?title=Jungle

You can get jungles from banded, striped, jungle or any combo of those parents. You are more likely to get jungles from geckos with strong jungle genes such as a jungle that is expressing in the phenotype.

I believe the banded/jungle pattern is a different set of alleles from the ones that control spotting, so it can be super hypo and jungle at the same time without being co-dominant.

Gracias. Ive been into the whole breeding/genetics things latley, always intrested in learning wich morph trump wich and the diffrent levels of patter the morph may effect.
