Lighting for Crested Gecko?

Hi,

I know it is not necessary for Cresties to have lighting, however I was going to get a planted viv.

The placing of the viv gets little to no sunlight which can't be good for the plants. So I was thinking of getting some Exo Terra lighting hoods.

I just need to know if this is a good idea, what effects (if any) will it have on my crestie and what lighting I need or should avoid.

Thanks
JM

I use 6500K 10W for my 12x12x18 and 6500K 15W for my 18x18x24. Didnt try with live plants yet but this is the bulb u need. I wouldn't suggest u go higher then 10W in a 12x12x18.

okies, and I 'm guessing I need the Repti Glo 2.0 Compact
Full Spectrum Terrarium Lamp. Should I get the 13W or 26W?

I should also mention I need to raise the temps i the viv, they currently fluctuate between 67 and 70, so would the higher wattage one be an idea?

I have also ordered the habitat temp controller thing which I can hook up to my heatmat.

67f is perfectly fine for a crestie, do NOT had any source of heat. It would be horrific for them. Just buy a (or 2) standard GE fluocompact 6500K 15W and you'll be fine.
